APPLICATION The Parent-Student Relationship In College Searches

Though many aspiring college students expect the most stressful experiences to come throughout their time in college, the truth is these experiences begin with the admissions process. Every student is different, but the consensus seems to be that taking the preparation for each application seriously reduces the amount of stress that students have to shoulder. How does a student prepare accordingly, though? Prioritize the requirements of each application by order of due date and focus on completing one task at a time before moving on to the next. This is easier said than done for each of the more overarching elements of a college application, such as the short essay portions. That said, attempting to commit to completing at least one or two writing essays each week, if begun early enough, can ensure that you remain ahead of the deadlines you hope to meet. With everything laid out, you can get to work and make consistent progress. Before you know it, your applications will be ready to submit. Remember, while planning and preparation take time, they can do wonders for easing stress as you accomplish anything you’ve set your mind to — including getting into your top choice.
